WHAT IS A FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADOR?
A Friendship Ambassador is a volunteer in grades 4-12+ who would like to spend time with kids that are seeking friendship.
These children may exhibit any of the following...
be extremely shy;
may have special needs (autism, learning disabilities)
may have physical differences;
may use devices to move or to communicate;
may have difficulty speaking clearly;
may have hearing issues.
These children yearn for friends and the experience of friendship. They want to be seen as regular kids, with feelings and goals. They want to come to a place that feels safe and caring and kind. They want kids and adults to accept them and still like them for who they are. They want a chance to be listened to. They want a turn to speak. They want to spend time with kids their own age, and they want to be a big buddy sometimes, too.
If you are willing to spend time getting to know some new friends, then we need your help! We want to plan some fun activities for friends to do together at the Library. We will add your name to our list and we will contact you about upcoming Friendship Programs.
